Assistant Project Manager This position is typically responsible for supporting a Project Manager in directing the completion and financial outcome of a single project or multiple construction projects. Directs and supervises work of Project Administration, Project Superintendents and Engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors, unions, etc. This entry level position has 0 to 3 years of experience and may be capable of managing smaller, less complex projects with limited supervision. Typical position title is Assistant Project Manager.
Building Information Modeling - Level 1 Creates and modifies 3D models, renderings and/or animations for promotion and proposals. Office-based work with various departments to integrate imagery into presentations using BIM software. May help to create or maintain standards, processes and goals.
Building Information Modeling - Level 2 Coordinates Building Information Modeling (BIM) for use during construction. Assist Project Manager and site staff in BIM use--may be on site. Create and update site logistics plans and 4D visual schedules. Detect clashes of multiple-project trades. Understand construction drawings and related specifications from various disciplines.
Building Information Modeling - Level 3 Creates, modifies and augments building information models and CADD files for pursuit and construction of projects. Integrate models through "middleware" for 4D and 5D use. Lead in creation and maintenance of standards, processes and goals. Can supervise Level 1 and 2 personnel.
Business Development - Level 1 This level requires a marketing degree or related industry experience. Develops potential client lists and follows through with proposals and presentations on those accounts. Typical position titles include Business Development Manager and Marketing Services Manager. Normally reports to the Business Development Level 2 position.
Business Development - Level 2 This is the senior level Business Development position with significant construction and/or marketing experience. At this level, the job typically includes becoming actively involved and/or responsible for negotiations with clients. Typical position titles include Business Development Director or Business Development Manager. Reports to Senior Development person.
Construction Manager - Level 1 Responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of construction projects from inception t completion for the purpose of controlling time, scope, cost and quality. This level possesses a minimum of 2 years of experience of which a minimum of 1 year is Responsible In Charge experience as defined in the criteria for the Certified Construction Manager CCM professional credential.
Construction Manager - Level 2 Responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of construction projects from inception t completion for the purpose of controlling time, scope, cost and quality. This level possesses a minimum of 3 years of experience of which a minimum of 2 years is Responsible In Charge experience as defined in the criteria for the Certified Construction Manager CCM professional credential.
Construction Manager - Level 3 Responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of construction projects from inception t completion for the purpose of controlling time, scope, cost and quality. This level possesses a minimum of 4 years of experience of which a minimum of 3 years is Responsible In Charge experience as defined in the criteria for the Certified Construction Manager CCM professional credential.
Construction Manager - Level 4 Responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of construction projects from inception t completion for the purpose of controlling time, scope, cost and quality. This level possesses a minimum of 5 years of experience of which a minimum of 4 years is Responsible In Charge experience as defined in the criteria for the Certified Construction Manager CCM professional credential.
Contract Administration - Level 1 Responsible for financial management, financial contract administration and financial contract compliance. Deals exclusively with contract issues between company and client, but does not procure or price. Ensures compliance with company policy and federal acquisition regulations. These entry level administrators prepare billings, accounts receivable analyses and reports for simple contracts. Prepares letter or worksheet invoices, any attached documentation and complies with few contract terms. Interacts with Project/Program Managers to resolve billing and collection issues for accounts receivable analyses and reports. Typically requires a BS degree.
Contract Administration - Level 2 Responsible for financial management, financial contract administration and financial contract compliance. Deals exclusively with contract issues between company and client, but does not procure or price. Ensures compliance with company policy and federal acquisition regulations. Under supervision, manages contracts with specific terms and conditions and may analyze financial reports. Accounts receivable analysis is normally more detailed requiring substantial interaction with Program and Project Manager. May deal with most contract types, as well as both private and government clients. Typically requires a BS and 4-7 years contract experience.
Contract Administration - Level 3 Responsible for financial management, financial contract administration and financial contract compliance. Deals exclusively with contract issues between company and client, but does not procure or price. Ensures compliance with company policy and federal acquisition regulations. This is the most knowledgeable manager financially administering a contract. Manages complex contracts governed by federal acquisition regulations and requiring significant financial reporting and analysis. Client and Program Manager contact may be significant. Typically requires a BS or MS with 8 or more years of contract experience.
Design Drafting - Level 1 This entry level requires high school, trade school or community college education with adequate drafting, CADD and related course work but no previous experience. Performs introductory and elementary drafting assignments such as tracing, markups and CADD correcting. Incumbents perform drafting/design functions using computer graphic equipment (CADD), up to 100 percent of the time. Knowledge and/or use of CADD in this family is not required, but generally is preferred.
Design Drafting - Level 2 This journey level works under general supervision, with some exercise of judgment, prepares drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures. Will begin to utilize skills in developing graphics using CADD. Normally requires at 4-7 years experience. Incumbents perform drafting/design functions using computer graphic equipment (CADD), up to 100 percent of the time. Knowledge and/or use of CADD in this family is not required, but generally is preferred.
Design Drafting - Level 3 This senior level develops working drawings within company and industry standards, and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings. Fully understands materials and methods normal to the discipline and has some elementary exposure to design. May apply intermediate level techniques in CADD. Normally requires at least 8 or more years experience or a BS degree. Include traditional senior drafting jobs and transitional entry-level designer jobs. Incumbents perform drafting/design functions using computer graphic equipment (CADD), up to 100 percent of the time. Knowledge and/or use of CADD in this family is not required,
Equipment Manager Responsible for purchase, lease, maintenance, safety and repair of company equipment.
Estimating/Engineering - Level 1 This is the entry level estimating position and requires 0 to 4 years of experience in estimating. Under close supervision, performs routine, less complex, estimating assignments requiring knowledge of basic principles of estimating. Gathers, calculates and compiles data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates. Typically is expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimates. Typical position titles include Assistant Estimator, Associate Estimator, Estimator, and Estimator I.
Estimating/Engineering - Level 2 This journey level position requires 4 to 7 years estimating experience. Under general supervision, performs more complex estimating assignments. Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates, analyses of subcontractor bids. With additional experience within one specialty, the individual is expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimates. Typical position titles include Estimator, Estimator II, Estimating Engineer.
Estimating/Engineering - Level 3 This senior level position requires 8 or more years experience in estimating and may provide technical guidance to less experienced estimators. Prepares and/or coordinates preparation of full estimates on large and complex work. Performs all aspects of estimating under minimal supervision. Typical position titles include Senior Estimator, Estimator III, Lead Estimator, Chief Estimators. DOES NOT include the company's top estimating executive
Field Engineering - Level 1 This entry level performs line and grade, control points, quality review and control on a project. Normally requires 0-4 years experience in commercial construction related survey work. Position title may be Field Engineer.
Field Engineering - Level 2 This journey level performs line and grade, control points, quality review and control on a project. Normally requires 4-7 years experience in commercial construction related survey work. Position title may be Field Engineer.
Field Engineering - Level 3 Senior level surveying position responsible for line and grade, control points, quality review and control on a project. Requires 8 or more years commercial construction related survey work. Position may be titled Senior Field Engineer.
General Foreman Supervises and coordinates activities of Foreman and craft workers. Requires minimum of 3 years as Foreman. DO NOT report Union members.
Marketing Coordinator Provides support and assistance in several of the following areas: identification of key business trends unique to the industry, design of company and unit marketing literature, review of database systems and web site. BS with 2-5 years of experience.
Project Accounting/Office Management - Level 1 The individuals in this exempt level position normally have less than 4 years of field office accounting experience with a BS degree in accounting or a related field. Duties are primarily concerned with routine accounting and payroll activities. May provide direction or have some supervisory responsibility, but most of the time performs the work alone. Typical position titles include Project Accountant, Project Accountant I & II, Assistant Office Manager and Office Manager.
Project Accounting/Office Management - Level 2 This exempt level position normally requires 4-7 years experience in field office accounting with a BS degree in accounting or a related field. An individual at this level may exercise supervision over a small staff engaged primarily in accounting and payroll activities. This level may also coordinate purchasing, personnel, and office services activities at the job site. Typical position titles include Project Office Manager, Project Accountant II & III, Office Manager and Field Office Manager.
Project Accounting/Office Management - Level 3 This exempt level position normally requires a minimum of 8 years experience in field office accounting with a BS degree in accounting or a related field. Normally supervises an administrative staff engaged in accounting, payroll, purchasing, personnel and office services activities at the project site. Report positions at this level if the individual has major supervisory responsibility in three or more functional areas. The next higher level is normally a corporate/headquarters position. Typical position titles include Project Office Manager, Senior Project Accountant, Senior Office Manager and Project Accountant III & IV.
Project Administration - Level 1 Duties are primarily concerned with routine administrative, accounting and payroll activities at the project level. This is the entry level, non-degreed employee with up to 4 years general office experience. Typical position titles may include Administrative Assistant, Accounting Clerk and Clerk Typist.
Project Administration - Level 2 Duties are primarily concerned with routine administrative, accounting and payroll activities at the project level. This is a non-degreed employee with up to 4-7 years experience in secretarial, payroll and administrative functions. Typical position titles may include Payroll Clerk, General Administrative Secretary and Accounting Clerk.
Project Administration - Level 3 Duties are primarily concerned with administrative, accounting and payroll activities at the project level. This is a non-degreed employee with more than 8 years experience. Provides a wide variety of support to the project team including payroll, billings, status reports, etc. May provide direction or have some supervisory responsibility, but usually performs the work alone. May be the highest non-exempt level in this job family. Typical position titles may include Secretary, Executive Assistant and Assistant Job Accountant.
Project Controls - Level 1 These are entry level jobs for a BS or MS graduate, and may include those with previous experience in other functional areas. Under close supervision, performs routine planning and/or cost engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic project controls principles. Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of planning and/or cost engineering.
Project Controls - Level 2 Under general supervision, this journey level performs more complex project controls. With additional experience within one specialty, assists in larger and more complex project controls. Normally requires at least 2 years experience in planning and/or cost engineering with typical experience from 4 to 7 years; but may include additional experience in other functional areas.
Project Controls - Level 3 This senior level performs all aspects of planning and/or cost engineering. May provide technical guidance to less experienced project controls personnel. Requires at least 4 years experience in planning and/or cost engineering, with typical experience of at least 8 years.
Project Management - Executive This level is responsible for the overall direction, completion and financial outcome of construction operations or a segment of the company's construction operations. This position is typically responsible for the guidance and development of all Project Managers under his/her purview. Establishes group operational priorities and is accountable for overall relationships with owners, subcontractors, unions, etc. This position may also have business development responsibilities. Typically this position would have over 15 years of experience in project management. Position titles include Project Director, Project Executive, Senior Project Manager and Operations Manager.

Typical position titles include Project Manager and Project Manager II.
Project Management - Level 3 Responsible for the overall direction, completion and financial outcome of a single construction project or multiple projects. Directs and supervises work of Project Administration, Project Superintendents, Engineers and subordinate Project Managers to establish operational priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors, unions, etc. This level is capable of managing complex projects of all sizes with10 years or more of experience. Typical position titles include Senior Project Manager, Project Manager III or IV.
Project Superintendent - Level 1 This entry level normally requires a minimum of 0-4 years of experience as Foreman or General Foreman of a single craft for field construction projects. This is the first supervisory level above Foreman or General Foreman. Responsible for managing daily operations of projects in order to successfully complete small projects within budget and plan specifications. May either exercise direct supervision over laborers/craft worker, or be responsible for directing an assigned segment of a project within one or more crafts through a General Foreman or Foreman. Typical positions titles include Assistant Superintendent, Unit/Area Superintendent.
Project Superintendent - Level 2 This journey level normally requires a minimum of 4-7 years of experience as Project Superintendent Level 1. This position functions as a second level supervisor having responsibility over several Level 1 Superintendents with one or more crafts, a second line supervisor having multi-craft responsibility within designated areas or will serve as the Project Superintendent on small to medium sized projects. Typical positions titles include Superintendent, Project Superintendent, Superintendent Level 2 and Field Superintendent.
Project Superintendent - Level 3 This senior level is the top supervision level in the field and normally requires at least 8 years experience in field construction activities. This level is responsible for organization, work methods, scheduling, quality of workmanship, cost control and conformity with drawings and specifications. This position typically supervises the field activities on large projects of greater complexity. This position may supervise the activities of all other superintendents in the company. Typical position titles include General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent and Senior Project Superintendent.
Project/Field Engineering - Level 1 This is the exempt entry level for a BS or MS graduate. Works under close supervision, performing the routine aspects of field or cost engineering assignments requiring knowledge of basic engineering.
Project/Field Engineering - Level 2 This exempt journey level position is the Cost or Office Engineer and normally requires a minimum of 4 years experience. This position coordinates materials and change orders, expedites material on the job, prepares monthly estimates, compiles production and cost statistics and analyzes production statistics to identify problem areas.
Project/Field Engineering - Level 3 This exempt senior level position normally requires 8 or more year's experience. This position usually assists Project Management in expediting material deliveries, estimating and processing change orders, preparing monthly pay requests and preparing shop drawings.
Purchasing - Level 1 This is an entry level job for a BS graduate. Under close supervision, performs routine purchasing as a trainee.
Purchasing - Level 2 Non-supervisory journey level purchaser. Conducts all aspects of purchasing for a project. May technically assist less experienced purchasing personnel. Normally requires a BS degree and at least 4-7 years experience in purchasing.
Purchasing - Level 3 This senior level is the first level of direct supervision of a group of purchasers. Normally requires a BS degree and at least 8 years experience in purchasing.
Quality Assurance/Control - Level 1 These are entry level jobs for BS graduates in Engineering. Works under close supervision. May review drawings, process procedures, procurement documents and quality control reports. Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area or program. Recommends corrective action to quality problems.
Quality Assurance/Control - Level 2 This journey level works under general supervision. May review drawings, process procedures, procurement documents and quality control reports. Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area or program. Recommends corrective action to quality problems. Aids project-wide system audits and surveillance, including supplier or subcontractor audits or surveillance to approved audit checklists and procedures. Normally requires BS in Engineering or related field and 4-7 years related experience. Preparation for auditor certificate or equivalent is desired.
Quality Assurance/Control - Level 3 This senior level supports quality assurance for a program and/or area to ensure product is designed, procured and installed to meet customer and division quality requirements. Interacts with a variety of functional groups. Leads project-wide system audits as directed by principal quality assurance engineer or program management. Writes quality plans, procedures, audit checklists and plans. Requires BS in Engineering or related field and 8 or more years experience. May hold lead auditor certification or equivalent.
Safety Engineering - Level 1 This entry level requires a safety or insurance degree and a minimum of 3 years of significant safety experience. Under general supervision, conducts safety audits and inspections, evaluates and ensures improvements for job site safety personnel. Usually will be assigned to a large project or several smaller projects. Typical position titles include Safety Engineer, Safety Supervisor, Safety Coordinator and Assistant Safety Manager.
Safety Engineering - Level 2 This journey level requires a safety or insurance degree and 4 to 7 years of significant safety experience. Experience could have been in construction and could be a former Superintendent who has moved into the Safety Engineering job family. Usually assigned to one mega-project. Typical position titles include Project Safety Manager, Safety Supervisor, Senior Safety Supervisor and Safety Engineer II.
Safety Engineering - Level 3 This senior level requires a safety or insurance degree and a minimum of 8 years of significant safety experience in the Safety Engineering Level 2 position. Conducts and documents comprehensive safety audits and procedures. Maintains accident and insurance records as required by OSHA, and provides functional advice and/or training to less experienced Safety Engineer(s). Typical position titles include Regional Safety Manager, Area Safety Manager, Division Safety Manager and District Safety Supervisor.
Scheduling - Level 1 Performs tasks related to the collection of schedule data required to monitor project progress. Assists in developing and monitoring schedules, reporting variances from established deadlines. This entry level works under close supervision, drafts construction schedules for small projects. Typical incumbent has a BS and 0-4 years experience.
Scheduling - Level 2 This journey level performs intermediate and non-routine planning and scheduling assignments that require the selection and application of scheduling principles and techniques. Prepares, monitors and revises schedules, assists Project Managers to formulate plans to correct scheduling problems. Typical incumbent has BS and 4-7 years experience.
Scheduling - Level 3 This is the senior position often with lead responsibility. Coordinates all planning and scheduling activities for a medium size project or for a portion of a large, complex project. Prepares and issues master schedules, problem analysis reports and variance reports. Typical incumbent has BS and more than 8 years experience.
Service Sales - Level 1 This position is responsible for developing customer relationships and increasing revenue through the sales of new service contracts. Develops quotes for the sale of parts, labor and ongoing service/maintenance. Responsible for generating and following up on sales leads. This position typically requires 0 to 4 years of sales experience. Typical position titles include Service Sales, Sales Representative and Salesperson.
Service Sales - Level 2 This position is responsible for developing customer relationships and increased revenue through the sales of service contracts. May also identify opportunities and coordinate with construction group to position new projects. Develops quotes for the sale of parts, labor and ongoing service/maintenance. This position typically requires a history of proven sales performance with selling service contracts. Typical titles include Service Account Executive and Sr. Service Sales, Service Business Development and Sales Manager.
Service Technician - Level 1 This entry level position is responsible for the installation, service and repair of different systems (e.g. HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing). Works under general supervision. This position requires 0 to 4 years of experience as a Service Technician. Typical position titles include Service Technician I, Service Technician, Journeyman.
Service Technician - Level 2 This journey level position is responsible for the installation, service and repair of different systems (e.g. HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing). Works under minimal supervision and may supervise one or more Level 1 Service Technicians. This position requires 4-7 years of experience. Typical position titles include Service Technician II and Sr. Service Technician.
Service Technician - Level 3 This senior level position is responsible for the installation, service and repair of different systems (e.g. HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing). Works under minimal to no supervision and will likely supervise Level 1 and 2 Service Technicians. This position requires 8 or more years of experience. Typical position titles include Service Technician III and Sr. Service Technician.
